Lama Tharchin Rinpoche’s explanation of “A Heart Jewel for the Fortunate, Great Perfection Pointing Out Instructions” (also known as the Nying Nor) by Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche. In this series, Lama Tharchin Rinpoche provides guidance in a relaxed setting at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, in September 2005. Rinpoche begins with a comprehensive explanation of the key elements of the path of Dzogchen Great Perfection – view, meditation, and conduct – and a description of the five afflictive emotions and how they manifest in our daily lives. Elucidating Dudjom Rinpoche’s profound text with many examples from his own personal life and practice, Lama Tharchin Rinpoche explains the clear meaning of “A Heart Jewel for the Fortunate” to an audience of both beginners and long-time students.

Lama Tharchin Rinpoche received these teachings directly from Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche and he turned to them again and again when guiding his students along the Dzogchen path. About the text, Rinpoche said:

"This very special heart advice by Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche introduces the view of Dzogchen Great Perfection, which is our own undefiled original nature, naturally manifest awareness, fully enlightened Buddhahood. Once recognized, meditation offers the method to maintain that view. How this is integrated into our daily lives is called conduct. This pith teaching contains the essence of the three sections of Dzogchen – sem-dé (mind class), long-dé (space class), and men-ngak-dé (Upadesha pith instruction class). As the teachings of the Great Perfection elucidate the mind’s essential nature, their benefit isn’t limited only to those practicing a particular tradition. Anyone with an interest in enhancing spiritual practice, whether a beginner or with years of experience, can find a wealth of profound advice in such teachings."
