Lama Tharchin Rinpoche stressed that an eclipse is a very powerful time for dharma practice, as it represents the outer dissolution of the sun and moon that corresponds to the inner dissolution of our body's white and red elements into the subtle body's central channel. The mind, he said, will be less turbulent during solar and lunar eclipses due to these interdependent circumstances. It is a particularly special time to recite the Kunzang Monlam (Great Perfection Prayer of Kuntuzangpo), visualizing oneself as Kunzang Yab Yum while meditating on the inseparable state of awareness-emptiness.
You can download a PDF of the Kunzang Monlam here and stream or download Lama Tharchin Rinpoche reciting the prayer here on SoundCloud.
On the west coast, the eclipse will begin at about 9:01 am, peak at 10:15, and end by 11:37 am. Be sure to wear eye protection if you are viewing the eclipse!
Please join us for Buddha Puja practice and Kunzang Monlam at Pema Osel Ling in Corralitos, California, at 9 am, if you're in the area.
